Exploring Kaikōura
Set off aboard the Coastal Pacific train in Christchurch for a scenic ride across the North Canterbury plains and Waipara wine region, complete with morning tea and breathtaking ocean-mountain vistas after emerging through the hills. Once in Kaikōura, set off to explore local seal colonies, earthquake-affected landscapes, and panoramic viewpoints.

Today will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience! After enjoying your inclusive breakfast, head off to experience the thrill of an up-close encounter with either the Giant Sperm Whale, Pacific Coast Albatross, or Dusky Dolphin.
After this outstanding experience, we're sure you will be feeling peckish. Head to the beach to sample some iconic New Zealand food - you can't go wrong with the humble Kiwiana fish and chips. Work off the deep-fried delights by wandering through the wonderful array of local artisan stores and souvenir shops.
The afternoon is free for you to explore more of Kaikōura before transferring back to the station to return to Christchurch on the Coastal Pacific train and enjoy dinner onboard on your return journey.
