Catch the TranzAlpine train to Arthur's Pass
You can catch the world-famous TranzAlpine train to Arthur's Pass from Christchurch or Greymouth.
Perched in the Southern Alps, Arthur's Pass Railway Station is the highest operational station in New Zealand. Whilst most passengers are content stepping onto the platform for a quick Instagram moment with the station's iconic sign before travelling onward, Arthur's Pass is a great place for hiking and hanging out with the locals, the Kea - New Zealand's roguish mountain parrots, who get up to all kinds of mischief.
TranzAlpine Check-In

- Wait near the centre of the platform for the train to arrive
- A crew member will greet you on the platform once the train has arrived to check you in and provide you with your Boarding Pass and Luggage Labels.
